Online Seminar 4 September: Prisoners and Internees, 1939-1945: The South African Experience

The Second World War Research Group - Southern Africa and the Department of Military History at Stellenbosch University will hosting a one day online seminar on 4 September 2020 on prisoners and internees. Please see the link below for the programme and abstracts. If you are interested in attending, please contact Ian van der Waag (ian@sun.ac.za) or Evert Kleynhans (epk@ma2.sun.ac.za) for the Zoom link.

The year 2020 marks the 150th anniversary of the International Prisoner of War Agency. We seek to bring together scholars to examine the experience of imprisonment and internment and explore the implications this held for military prisoners and civilian internees, and their families and communities, as well as the repercussions for the imprisoning and interning powers.
